A day out at Leighton Moss

We went to Leighton Moss – an RSPB centre – at the weekend, and enjoyed a great afternoon out.  The weather this past week has been fantastic – cold, but clear and sunny – and this made for great viewing.  As well as lots of bird life, we saw a number of deer just resting in the grass.  Our youngest struggled to see them through the binoculars and so was a little frustrated but you can imagine his delight when we drove home past the Dallam Estate and saw upwards of 50 fawn gallivanting down by the River Bela, just before we reached Milnthorpe!

Who needs Alton Towers when you have an attraction like this?  Far more educational for the children and the cost for the four of us was a whopping £6.50 for the day (we had a 2 adults for the price of 1 leaflet).  Normal cost for a family would be £9, or it’s free if you are an RSPB member or you travel by public transport (you can catch the bus from Kendal directly to the reserve).
