Party in the Park, Kendal

A now seemingly annual event in the Kendal calendar is ‘Party in the Park’ at Maudes Meadow (strictly speaking, I understand it’s at Nobles Rest but locals call it Maudes Meadow which is actually a neighbouring piece of land). This is a fantastic community event organised by St. Thomas’ Church in Kendal, that brings together locals and visitors alike in a relaxed, family atmosphere.

And one of the things that is great about it is that pretty much everything is free.  There are bouncy castles, brass bands, balloons, gymastics displays, majorettes, all manner of games, various crafts, face painting, a treasure hunt, circus equipment to try out, ‘guess the weight of the vicar’ and ‘guess the name of the sheep’ competitions, and free tea/coffee and cakes.  You don’t even have to pay to get in!

Sadly the weather wasn’t quite as kind this year as it had been in previous years but the early showers did little to dampen everyone’s enthusiasm and there was still an excellent turnout.

Congratulations go to the organisers and volunteers, and to all those who put so much effort in to making the event a huge success.
