New Made in Cumbria shop in Kendal

Earlier this year Cumbria Chamber of Commerce took over the Made in Cumbria brand from Cumbria County Council, and a new Made in Cumbria shop has now opened on Stramongate in Kendal.  The brand has 250 members and so this will give local businesses the opportunity to sell their produce which can include anything from local foods to jewellery and artwork.  The site of the new store will also be where Kendal Tourist Information Centre re-locates to next year.

This sounds great! I can’t wait to see it if we get back next year. Wonder if they ship to the US … hmmmm

Made in Cumbria is made up of lots of individual businesses. I’m sure some of them would be able to ship direct but you might find some – eg. food producers won’t, or can’t due to insurance costs. I know this is true (or at least, was when I spoke to them earlier this year) of at least one of the manufacturers of Kendal mint cake (Quiggins). Their insurance costs go through the roof if they want to ship to the US or Canada for some reason, so they choose not to.
