It’s an absolutely gorgeous morning in Kendal today. Sunny… blue sky… crisp, cool air… and a forecast that suggests this is how it’s going to remain for the week ahead (aside from a short shower on Sunday). The Guardian’s Tony Greenbank has written a short piece entitled ‘Country Diary: Lake District‘ in which he comments that “the great groundsman in the sky has readied the fells for the year ahead” and, speaking of the transition from Winter to Spring, writes “this dramatic turnabout has felt quite literally as Wordsworth himself first phrased it, ‘the surprise of joy’ indeed”. There’s also a nice picture (a horizontal horizon would have made it better still!) of Haweswater which is just a short drive from here.
