Kendal
has a varied programme of events running throughout the year. The
Brewery Arts Centre (pictured) is a popular visual arts centre in
the town that holds a mix of music, theatre, comedy and speaking
events, as well as having two cinema screens and serving as the
venue for Europe's biggest mountain culture festival (Kendal Mountain
Festival) in November each year. Lakes Leisure also holds theatre,
comedy and music events, including the popular Lakeland Sinfonia
Concerts, whilst Bootleggers Bar hosts live music events every Thursday,
Friday and Saturday night with ticketed gigs throughout the year.
Kendal has a regular market on Wednesdays and Saturdays, continuing
a tradition that dates back to the 12th Century when the town was
granted a market charter. A farmers' market is also held on the
last Friday of every month.
