The Yorkshire Dales is home to some of
the most classic karst (limestone) scenery in Britain.
A number of dramatic waterfalls can be found in the Dales, including Aysgarth
Falls, Cautley Spout, Hardraw Force and Thornton Force.
The Dales has nationally important populations of breeding waders, black
grouse and yellow wagtail, and is inhabited by the rare Northern Brown
Argus butterly.
There's over 2,000 kilometres of public footpaths and bridleways in the
Yorkshire Dales.
